Barry A. Spevack concentrates his practice in federal and state criminal and civil appeals.  He graduated first in his class and cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago Law School in 1978, where he was awarded the Chief Justice Edward R. White Scholarship Award and the Loyola University Leadership and Service Award.  He was Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola University Law Journal and a member of the school’s Trial Practice Team. Mr. Spevack is the co-author of Federal Criminal Law: A Seventh Circuit Handbook (Lexis-Nexis Publishing), a 1000 page compendium of the criminal law as interpreted by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals; updated yearly, the 2013 edition is now available. Mr. Spevack taught for many years as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago Law School and he has authored or co-authored numerous articles on criminal law and procedure.  Since 2009, Mr. Spevack has been Chair of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association’s Rules and Practice Committee.  Presently he is also a member of a subcommittee exploring e-discovery issues in federal court.
